Volunteer for Harrow Mencap and

  • support a great cause

  • meet new people

  • make a difference

Volunteers have always been important to Harrow Mencap.  In fact the organisation was established by a group of volunteers most of whom had a family member with a learning disability.  It was these volunteers who set up the first clubs, campaigned for peoples' rights and helped to establish Harrow Mencap as the leading charity it is today.  We currently have over 100 volunteers supporting us

Our volunteers benefit from the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge through participation, coaching and training

There are lots of opportunities for volunteers

Community Fundraising

We need volunteers for

  • supermarket collections
  • support with running coffee mornings and community events
  • publicity including promoting events and distributing flyers
  • help with driving

There are a variety of sport and social clubs and activities run by teams of volunteers and club leaders.  Get involved by giving a few hours of your time during the evening or at the weekend.

Day Opportunities Services

Get involved at our activity centres and help run sessions that support people to develop skills and confidence  and have active and fulfilling lives.

This is what Hannah says about what volunteering at Harrow Mencap means to her

"I love it, I have enjoyed the challenge of fundraising with Harrow Mencap and so enjoy meeting members of the public.  I've made lots of new friends and won Harrow Mencap Volunteer of the year".
