We are proud of our self-advocate Brendan who joined with partners from National Mencap to give evidence at the Eleventh meeting of the House of Lords COVID-19 Committee.

Brendan told the committee about his experience as a person with a learning disability during the coronavirus lockdown, and how the restrictions negatively impacted his mental health.

He also told them that the government needs to offer people with learning disabilities more mental health support as the pandemic continues.

Brendan said:

I enjoyed the session because it gave me the opportunity to speak up for other people.
