Voluntary organisations (including Harrow Mencap), in partnership with Harrow Council and unpaid carers, are pleased to share that the Carer Card is now available to all people (of any age) who provide unpaid care and support to a vulnerable person living in Harrow.

The card has three main focuses:

1 - To recognise the unpaid carer and support them where possible in areas such as priority health appointments, access to health checks, training, counselling, employment support and health & wellbeing sessions.

2 - To confirm details of people who may be able to step in and offer support in the event of the carer being unable to care in an emergency.

3 - To link the carer with Harrow businesses who may be able to offer their support, which we hope will include discounts and incentives.

Please appreciate that the card is currently a work in progress, but we hope many businesses will sign up to offer their support. To sign up please contact [email protected] or call 020 8869 8484.

Thank you to London's Community Kitchen, the Red Brick Cafe, the Red Cup Cafe and the local Morrisons and Tesco branches who have supported the scheme so far:

For carers wishing to apply for a Carer Card contact [email protected] or call 020 8868 5224. You can also check their website: www.harrowcarers.org/carer-card/

This card will replace the existing Carers Emergency Support Service as previously administered by Harrow Carers.

We would like to thank the amazing unpaid carers from across the community for initial conversations especially the Carers from Harrow Mencap Elevate group for encouraging the launch of this project and for their enthusiasm to ensure the Carer Card be available to support all unpaid carers.
