"There should be a dedicated learning disability nurse at Northwick Park" says HM Partnership Vice-Chair The Vice-Chair of the HM Partnership Ash Verma has made a statement supporting our campaign for a dedicated learning disability nurse at Northwick Park Hospital. There are two organisations that form the HM Partnership. These are Harrow Mencap and Enterprise Wellness Ltd. The partnership supports a variety of people across North West London, including people with a learning disability, people who are on the autistic spectrum, people with mental health needs, older people, those who experience social isolation and others. Ash is also the Chair of Enterprise Wellness, and has supported Harrow Mencap for a long time. Ash said: HM Partnership has been campaigning for the rights of people with learning disabilities across North West London for over seventy years. We have seen during this Covid-19 pandemic the health inequalities that existed in our society become even more exacerbated and the number of deaths amongst people with learning disabilities has increased 134%. That's why we believe that there should be a dedicated learning disability nurse at Northwick Park Hospital to help stop avoidable deaths of people with learning disabilities and help give them the mental health support they need. The reasonable adjustments that a LD nurse will bring will not only help people with learning disabilities but also older people and those that do not speak English as a second language.
