Harrow Mencap joins with Sejal for community hot meals programme Harrow Mencap have partnered with volunteer Sejal Halai in order to continue providing hot meals to people in need during the coronavirus crisis. Back in April, Sejal teamed up with her friend Sandy with support from family members and others to feed vulnerable people, homeless people and key workers including NHS staff, the fire brigade and police officers. So far, Sejal and her team have fed hundreds of people across Harrow, Brent, Ealing and Hillingdon, and we are proud to have joined forces with her to provide hot meals to some of our clients, volunteers and staff as well as people in need locally. So far Sejal has provided around 200 meals to people we support and work with, and has pledged over 300 more going forward. Until a few months ago, Sejal had never done something like this before, but since she started the project, she has used space at her home to open up a larger kitchen to cook more food at once. Sejal said: I am so proud to be supporting Harrow Mencap with this project. I’ve always wanted to help the community and this has been a great way to do it. Our partnership with Sejal has meant we have been able to provide many people in our community with nutritious, quality food and other support.
