On Thursday 7 January 2021 Harrow Mencap Day Opportunity Services along with other local providers of similar services were advised by Harrow Council’s Public Health Department to immediately suspend all face-to-face day services.

The reason behind this is the significant increase in Coronavirus cases within the borough since December, and a new, highly transmittable strain of the virus now spreading across the country.

From Friday 8 January 2021 we can no longer deliver any of our Day Opportunity services from our usual venues including Pinner Green and HAC, Cedars and the Good News Church until further notice.

In line with our values and our overarching response to the pandemic however, we refuse to leave our clients and their families without support. With this in mind, we will be extending our well-established online offer to increase our capacity to provide clients with activities, opportunities to socialise, learn and develop new skills and manage their mental health and wellbeing.

In certain instances, some face-to-face support services, such as healthy outdoor walks, will continue on a 1:1 basis for clients most in need, in keeping with current legislation.

If you are unable to access online activities and you are concerned about this, we advise you to contact your Social Worker/Care Manager/Care Management Team.
