On Tuesday 20 October, the Connecting Communities team enjoyed hosting their first event back at St John the Baptist Church in Central Harrow after 7 months.

In line with Covid-19 regulations around support provision and activities, a total of 14 people including Vicar Barry joined the session.

Participants sat spaced out, over 2 meters away from each other.

Everyone stayed in their seats to enjoy a delicious pre-packed lunch individually wrapped and tailored to their dietary needs, washed down with teas and coffees served in safe disposable cups.

The group, which included Harrow Mencap clients, volunteers, supporters and others, were delighted to have the opportunity to go out and catch up with friends, listen to a piano recital by volunteer Julian, and share stories with Vicar Barry.

After the event, a number of participants split up into 2 groups of 6 and were treated to guided walks to and from Kenton, where they explored some beautiful green areas.

The first event back was a great success, and goes to show that people can still have fun safely, even though coronavirus restrictions have been tightened.
