We were delighted to join Watford FC Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes and Rita Taylor the wife of the late club chairman Graham Taylor OBE to officially open the new space we are using at the Cedars Youth and Community Centre on 25th April.

Both Rita and Heurelho played cricket with our Cedars and Skill Up clients in the sports hall and everyone had a brilliant time.

Our very own Purvi then led a yoga demonstration in the new room known as the “Hornet’s Nest” for the guests including community figures who came to support the event such as Bob Blackman MP, Cllr Chris Mote, Cllr Janet Mote.

We were also happy to see our clients Glen and Tamsin take part in the room’s official opening ceremony.

They looked great while having their picture taken with Heurelho, Steve Williams the Head of Facilities & Inclusion at Watford FC and a celebration cake.

Steve Williams gave a speech at the opening.

He told the guests the story of why the football club decided to extend Cedars and build the new rooms and congratulated Harrow Mencap for running its activities at the centre for the last 3 and a half years.

The opening was a fantastic event and we are excited to keep working with Watford FC in the future.
