News & Events News Baladia Youth Club Raises £6,600 for Harrow Mencap We at Harrow Mencap are very grateful to have received a donation of £6,600 from the Baladia Youth Club in Brent. Mansukh Vekaria, Vishnu Patel, Silpesh Kerai, Nanji Vekaria and Laxmi Vekaria visited our head office to present us with a big cheque on behalf of the club. The Baladia Youth Club raised the money from donations and a charity auction at their 35th anniversary celebration dinner. They chose to fundraise for us because of our important work in the local community and our support for a cousin of one of their own members. Mansukh told us that the club showed a video at the dinner about Harrow Mencap’s history, values and all our hard work since we began more than 70 years ago. The video impressed and interested the 450 guests at the event and encouraged them to give generously. Mansukh, Vishnu and their team met with our Chief Executive Deven Pillay, Deputy Chief Executive Alison Davies, Office Assistant Simon Clack, Trustees David House and Avis Robinson and other staff members. Deven told them all about our many successful campaigns, services and achievements and explained that Harrow Mencap has stayed true to its roots as a campaigning organisation. Once again, we would like to say a huge thank you to Baladia Youth Club.
