Campaigning and empowering our community is at the heart of what Harrow Mencap does. Our Engagement department plays a key role in this.
Our Engagement programme focuses on:
• Campaigning for positive changes for people with learning disabilities and their families and carers.
• Empowering people to speak up on issues that affect their lives.
• Supporting people to learn new skills and build self-confidence.
• Supporting people to build peer networks and make new friends.
For more information contact the Engagement Manager Jordan on 07496494379 or email us on [email protected].
At Harrow Mencap, we are running a campaign to raise awareness about the need for more lifesaving Learning Disability Nurses across the UK.
We offer a weekly online help hour for parents of people with additional needs, and carers (caring for anyone), who need advice and information about local wellbeing and support services.
Our Engagement Team runs two digital projects to support adults with learning disabilities and their carers.
The Carer Card is now available to all people (of any age) who provide unpaid care and support to a vulnerable person living in Harrow.
Our Self-Advocate Group programme offers a variety of sessions, activities and events for people with learning disabilities.
Our Elevate Carers Group project includes a variety of events, video call sessions, meet ups, and weekly group activities, for those who care for somebody with a learning disability, physical disability, mental health condition, long term illness or anybody else.
