Hazel Paterson

My background is in education and I am currently headteacher at Kingsley High School, which is one of the local authority’s special schools for young people aged 11-19. I began my career teaching English and PE in high schools but quickly became interested in working with children who did not always find learning easy, eventually becoming a SENCo  and senior leader as this seemed to be  the best way to get things done.

It was during my time at Shaftesbury High school that I became more aware of and interested in the work of Harrow MENCAP   as an organisation which was putting into practice the  goals, vision and values that I share regarding provision and attitudes toward people with learning difficulties and disabilities. So when becoming a trustee was mentioned I was more than happy to apply.

I live in Harrow, am an Arsenal supporter, enjoy outdoor pursuits (running, gardening, walking, water sports) and will happily watch live sport or crime drama on t.v.
